Car radio & Red wooden car.

 

While working on the fantasy comic-book Starvision, Georgina Starr began to bring her 2D illustrations to life in various short video works like So Long Babe and Inside Starrwood.

For Drivin' On she constructed a life-size wooden car. In the video Starr takes a trip around the East End of London while listening to her own personal radio station (Red Car Radio) with songs dedicated to people she has travelled with in the past.

The seemingly 'glamorous' trip in the red sports car is soon revealed to be a physically challenging journey as we discover the car is made from heavy wood and is powered only by the artist's body and feet.

 

Drivin' On is part of the Ferens Museum Art Collection in Hull.
